What is content marketing?

Content marketing, also referred to as content marketing in English, is a marketing strategy that engages potential customers through relevant content. The purpose of the content is to build long-term relationships that create value and drive strong business results.

Unlike traditional advertising, where the recipient has information pushed in their face (for example on days like Black Week and similar campaigns), content marketing can safely be described as a smarter way to promote products and services. By offering relevant and engaging content in channels where you reach your target audience, you encourage customers to seek you out.

Content marketing can be produced in physical form as content in magazines and newspapers, but in recent years it has become more common to communicate content marketing via digital platforms. This can be anything from posts on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok, to articles or podcasts.

What does a content marketer do? 

A content marketer, or content producer, works on creating content for various channels, both physical and digital. The strategy of a content producer is to plan relevant content over a defined period of time, and then produce it in the form of text, graphic design, or video production.

An important part of a content producer’s job is to adapt the content to the different channels, meaning that both the format and the message fit the context where the content will appear. People expect a completely different style of communication on Snapchat than what the target audience on LinkedIn does, for example.
