What is content marketing?

Content marketing, also called content marketing in English, is a marketing strategy that engages potential customers through relevant content. The purpose of content marketing is to build long-term customer relationships that create value and drive strong business results.

It primarily involves creating a plan that covers all the content your company wants to create and publish. This is called a content strategy. Once the strategy is in place, you can start producing the planned content, in other words, content production.

But why content marketing? Why is it important?

Unlike traditional advertising, where the recipient receives information they have not actively sought out themselves (for example, banner ads related to Black Week and similar campaigns), content marketing can safely be described as a smarter approach in many ways. By offering relevant and engaging content in channels where you reach your target audience, you encourage customers to come to you.

The content you share typically demonstrates how your products or services can meet your target audience’s needs and solve their challenges. In addition, you give the reader an opportunity to learn more about your products and services, who you are, and what your company stands for. This will naturally help people see you as a credible player with solid expertise in what you offer. In this way, you can drive more conversions and build customer loyalty!

Content marketing can be produced in physical form as content in magazines and newspapers, but in recent years it has become more common to communicate content marketing via digital platforms. Here are some examples of types of content marketing:

  • Blog: Articles, guides, and similar content that provide the reader with professional input and information on relevant topics, all contributing to an improved customer journey.

A content marketer, usually referred to as a content producer, is responsible for planning and producing content for various channels. The role of a content producer is to plan relevant content over a defined period of time (content strategy), where they often use a publiseringsplan to maintain full overview at all times. After that, it’s time to produce the content in the form of copy, graphic design, or video (content production).

An important part of a content producer’s job is to adapt the content to the different channels, ensuring that both format and messaging fit where the content will be published.
