5 steps to conduct an SEO analysis

SEO analysis

An SEO analysis identifies strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement on your website. It gives you a unique opportunity to elevate your site to new heights – in several ways! In this article, we explain what an SEO analysis is, how it is used, and why it is so important.

What is an SEO analysis?

An SEO analysis, or search engine optimization analysis, is a process where you evaluate a website’s organic visibility and performance in search engines. The analysis examines the factors that influence the site’s visibility today, and identifies areas that can be optimized to generate more organic traffic. A comprehensive SEO analysis will assess both the technical and content-related elements of the website. In other words, an SEO analysis maps the website’s current status and reveals the potential it holds.

How is SEO analysis used?

Whether the goal is to gain more customers or to strengthen brand building in the search results, you use SEO analysis to move closer to that goal. When we use SEO analysis to review the website, we look at the technical setup, current organic visibility, existing content, as well as conversion rate and user-friendliness. This is done based on the goals and KPI you have set for your website.

The steps that give you a clear overview:

  • Current visibility:

Get an overview of your website’s rankings for organic visibility. How do you perform compared to your competitors? Here you can use various tools such as Semrush, Sistrix, and others.

  • Traffic and conversions:

How have traffic and conversions performed over the past year? Get an overview of where the traffic is coming from, and which pages are converting best.

  • Keyword analysis:

As soon as you have a clear understanding of the current status of your website, you can start on a søkeordsanalyse. A søkeordsanalyse maps how your target audience proceeds and what they search for when they are looking for providers like you.

  • Comparison and gap analysis:

By now, you will hopefully have one list of keywords you are already ranking for, and one list of keywords where you want increased visibility. This way, you can identify where the gaps are today. Which keywords have a high monthly search volume, but are not currently present on your website?

  • Content analysis:

Make sure to review all content on the website and optimize it. You may have content that can rank for the mapped keywords from the keyword analysis, but that is not ranking today. In some cases, the content may be duplicated or competing with other pages on the website. That’s why it’s important to always have a clear overview of your website content.

Why is SEO analysis important?

There are many factors that make an SEO-analyse valuable for you as a website owner. Not only does it give you full insight and improve your current website – an SEO-analyse will also pay off in the long term. When carried out thoroughly, it will help you increase your online visibility so that more potential customers discover your website over time.

The SEO analysis often includes a review of technical aspects such as speed, mobile-friendliness, and overall usability. This helps visitors stay on your website longer and increases the likelihood that they will take the actions you want them to!

Overall, the SEO analysis will enhance your competitive edge, strengthen brand credibility, and serve as a resource- and time-saving tool. The SEO analysis will help you focus on the areas that matter most and deliver the greatest impact, which in turn saves you time and resources.

You could say that the SEO analysis gives you the tools you need to ensure your website achieves the best possible results in the search engines!
