What is conversion?

A conversion is, simply put, a desired action taken by a potential customer. It can be a button that is clicked, a form that is filled out, or a purchase that is completed. Conversions are tracked and often occur as a response to the marketing the customer is exposed to.

Examples of conversions in the stages of the customer journey

Conversions serve different purposes and occur throughout the entire customer journey, from the moment the customer discovers the company until they have become a loyal customer. Here are examples of conversions in the four stages of the customer journey:

  • Attract: click through to the landing page, click on a CTA
  • Convert:Sign up for a newsletter, or download a guide
  • Sales: Complete a purchase
  • Delight: Provide feedback or reviews
