What is outbound marketing?

Outbound marketing translates to “utgående markedsføring” in Norwegian. This differs from inbound marketing in that the message is pushed out to a broad audience that has not asked for it. Examples of outbound marketing include when a company pays for banner ads and TV commercials. This creates an interruptive channel and can be perceived as intrusive by many. Nevertheless, the marketing will be effective when it reaches the right target audiences, in the right place, at the right time.

When should you prioritize outbound marketing?

It makes sense to choose outbound marketing when the intention is to build brand awareness early in the customer journey. By showcasing your product or service before the need arises, you can ensure it is the first thing that comes to mind when the need occurs. This increases the likelihood that leads will convert into paying customers, driven by the associations established through your outbound marketing.
