Google Shopping ads

If you run e-commerce for an online store, Google Shopping ads are the best way to showcase products to potential customers. Shopping ads are visual and include price, image, and a link to the website, and are highly effective for increasing online product sales.

Why should your company use Google Shopping ads?

More qualified leads

Shopping ads give potential customers far more information than the regular Google search results. This leads to better-informed customers and more qualified leads. It also increases the likelihood that the user completes the purchase.

Greater visibility in the search results

With the additional information, your ad will take up more space and be more visible in the search results. With the constantly increasing competition for attention in the Google search results, an ad with image, text, and key information will stand out even more.

It’s simple

Once you have set up the feed in Google Merchant Center, the ads can be created automatically. Google matches the ads to relevant search queries so they are shown to the right users, and the ads are generated automatically based on the information you have provided.

High CTR

Because shopping ads largely capture customers who are already looking for your product, the share of users who click on the ads and complete a purchase is very high. When you reach people who are already well into the buying process, the likelihood of conversion is significant.

What are Google Shopping ads?

Shopping ads are visual ads for products in online stores. They appear in Google search results when people search for the relevant product. Google Shopping ads are designed with an image and extended information that you don’t get in regular search results. Among other things, price and any reviews are shown in Shopping ads. To be able to use Google Shopping ads, you need an online store that sells products. For services, Google search ads or display ads are better suited.

How does Google Shopping work?

To set up Google Shopping ads, you need to create a product feed in Google Merchant Center where you list the products your online store offers. This can either be set up manually, or you can configure an automatic feed. To have your products shown as Shopping ads, it is important to provide as complete product information as possible. The information you add must also match what is written about the product on the page where it is sold. Once you meet the requirements to appear as Google Shopping ads, the ads can be displayed in the search results.

Where are Google Shopping ads shown?

In the Google search results

Shopping ads appear in the Google search results. They are either placed at the top like search ads, or they can be placed to the right of the other search results.

In the Shopping tab on Google

In addition to the regular search results, Google has created a dedicated tab called “shopping” where shopping ads related to the user’s search query appear.

In Google Image Search

Shopping ads can also appear in Google Images, and just like in the regular search results, they will be shown at the top.

On pages connected to Google’s Display Network

If you choose to include partner sites, Google Shopping ads will also appear on websites that are part of Google’s Display Network – in other words, sites where Google owns ad inventory.
