Conversion

Conversions are at the heart of sales and marketing, and here we'll tell you what they are.

What is conversion?

Simply put, a conversion is a desired action taken by a potential customer. It could be a button that is pressed, a form that is filled out or a purchase that is made. Conversions are tracked and often occur in response to the marketing the customer is exposed to.

Examples of conversions in the stages of the customer journey

Conversions have different purposes and occur throughout the customer journeys, from the time the customer discovers the company until they have become a loyal customer. Here are examples of the conversion in the four stages of the customer journey:

  • Attract: clicking into the landing page, pressing a CTA
  • Convert: Sign up for a newsletter, or download a guide
  • Sales: Completing a purchase
  • Enthusiasm: Provide feedback or reviews
